Driver's Licenses and Vehicle Registration:

 

New Florida residents must register their vehicles in Fl within 10 days of gaining employment and/or enrolling their children in school. To register a vehicle, you will need to provide the county tax collector with a current driver's license, proof of Florida auto insurance, a prior registration certificate and the vehicle title. The VIN number will be verified and you will need to apply for a Florida license plate. (There are dozens of specialty plates available for a small extra fee.)
The weight of the vehicle determines the registration fee. You will also need to apply for a Florida Title Certificate. You can obtain more information from the Manatee County (941) 741-4800 or from the Sarasota County Tax Collector at (941) 362-9888, or from the FL DMV New residents must get a Florida driver's license within 30 days of accepting employment, entering children in public school, registering to vote, or filing for homestead exemption. It costs $20 for a first time Florida Driver's License. Getting one is generally very quick if you have a valid license from another state. Typically you'll only need to take a vision test.
